In the mid-20th century, Mr. Sameer Taweel, the founder of Malak Jewelry, dedicated himself to establishing a reputable business. His journey gained momentum during the 1960s with the tourism boom in Lebanon. His expertise and passion allowed him to extend his business across the country, from the south to the seaport of Beirut, catering to UNIFIL personnel and other expatriates. His trade covered a wide spectrum of jewelry, from silver and gold to the finest diamonds.
In 1979, Malak Jewelry opened its first official outlet, marking its place as a solid player in the jewelry industry. Even through the challenges of the Lebanese Civil War, Malak Jewelry flourished, maintaining a loyal clientele and a strong market presence.
In 2000, Malak Jewelry expanded internationally, launching its showroom in Qatar's Hayat Plaza Mall.
In 2004, Malak Jewelry introduced a VIP customer service area in Mar Elias Street, Beirut, managed by highly specialized experts in customer service and the art of fine jewelry. From an early age, Hilal Tawil, one of the founder's sons, displayed an unwavering passion for jewelry craftsmanship. At just 13 years old, he immersed himself in the family business, determined to carry forward the legacy while bringing a fresh, innovative approach. He pursued his education in Geneva, Switzerland, where he studied watches and jewelry, and in Antwerp, Belgium, where he became an expert in fine jewelry and diamonds.
Armed with knowledge and an unrelenting drive, Hilal returned to Lebanon and transformed Malak Jewelry into a beacon of luxury. Every aspect of the business underwent a remarkable evolution-from reimagining the store's architecture to curating a collection that blended timeless vintage pieces with newly crafted masterpieces. He personally trained his staff to deliver an unparalleled level of service, fostered strong relationships with world-class suppliers, and introduced a refined brand identity, from the logo to the signature jewelry boxes.
